The music centralizes around singer-songwriter, Jennifer Dauphinais, pulling from folk and Americana influences, yet each track is its own tiny masterpiece, yielding an overall result that is uncommitted to genres and rules. Many of the songs were written in a remote part of the Hudson Valley, and are steeped with the influences of songwriters such as Dar Williams, A.A. Bondy, Jesse Sykes, Patty Griffin, and the inspiring legacy of Pete Seeger. The record also boasts several cameo performances from friends in the local music community, who added new flavors and expanded the overall album concept from a singer with a guitar to a dreamer cracking open her sonic palette to illustrate a different point of view.
