Dauphinais returns to an earlier home-recorded composer aesthetic with a lusher and more sonic palette. "I Could Never Love You" is a single release that is representative of the first new material and studio work since Modest Quarters in 2014. There'll be an EP to follow in 2019. This body of songs can be described as a kind of mysterious art rock, aural painting with the support of producer, Deadly West bringing the soundscapes to further fruition. Moving away from the traditional folk rock and singer-songwriter style often characteristic of Ponybird's live performances, this single, and forthcoming EP, indulge in the more spaced out collage-like compositions that have been sprinked throughout the earlier releases of Climb Yourself Up (2008) and Full Cold Moon (2009).
